Goodbye!

Hi friends and fellow bloggers!

After much thought and debate, I've decided to close this blog. Thank you so much for your friendship and support, I've enjoyed my time connecting with you guys and playing in my closet while writing down my thoughts. It is only with knowledge that I shall return someday to the blogging community that I am willing to let this blog go! In the meantime, stay connected with me through my portfolio www.christinejeanhopkins.com or instagram @christinejeanhopkins. Or, if you'd like to write a line, my personal email is christine.jean.hopkins@gmail.com.

Take care all!

Smorgasburg

plain black dress: random in korea, black sweater: gap, army printed jacket: urban outfitters, tights: hue, boots: vintage pollini

I love layering during any time of the year. My favorite season to layer is probably fall, but spring comes close too! Light layers--thin dresses with tights and jackets. Simple and incredibly comfortable. Last weekend was the perfect weather for spring layering! The sun was out, and provided enough warmth during the slightly chilly breeze. I spent the whole day out at Smorgasburg in dumbo. Sooooo happy, still grinning ear to ear thinking about my entire experience that day. Smorgasburg is a 'food flea' if you must. Like Brooklyn flea but with only foods and a ton of vendors. My friends and I did a once around the entire flea before choosing what we would try "this time." (We kept saying "in moderation, we'll be back...so hard to control ourselves!) Everything we tried was amazing--filipino rolls, pork buns, brisket sandwiches, pretzel bread, chilled oysters and hibiscus flavored donuts.  I can still remember the chilled oysters sliding down my throat...I'm ready for the beach! Anyone else?

I would go every weekend if it weren't time to start preparing for the beach :P

Little Things

earrings: kate spade, purse: anthropologie, postcards: schiaparelli & prada at the met

Wonderful gifts from friends who really know me! Lately, life has been incredibly busy with so many changes and not enough time in one day. I constantly have to remind myself to stop working and take notice of all the little things around me. It's always the little things--like the ones above--that make me smile the most.

Birthday Outfit

one of a kind dress, mixology nyc necklace

Last Friday, I turned 23. To celebrate, I threw my first New York dinner party followed by drinks. Dinner parties are no joke. There's so much planning that goes into it, not to mention cooking in an NYC apartment's kitchen is no joke either. I tried to rush home after work to cook everything, and unfortunately couldn't finish before my guests came. They were all shocked when I ran downstairs to pick them up in a sweater and leggings. I was quite the mess, really. But, after my best friend swooped in to finish all the food and shoed me into my bedroom to get ready, I took a quick 20 minutes to redo makeup and slip into this. This dress instantly stood out in my closet for its bold stripes and unique color. But, what I also love about this dress is that it's one of a kind. Designed for someone I know when she was a young woman, who passed it down to me. It's a few decades old, but has amazing quality and feels new every time I put it on. Perfect for a birthday celebration.

March Inspiration

photos from fashiongonerogue.com

March and pre-spring inspiration. Loving structure, minimalism, whites and stripes while I'm transitioning out of winter and before I get into loose summer clothing.

Alexander Wang Nails

=

Initially, I saw these Alexander Wang inspo nails on pinterest from the blogger Sprinkles in Springs. I thought it was such a cool idea, I wanted to try it for myself. It's incredibly easy to do, and the result was much more than a tribute to Alexander Wang's SS'13 line. It's a completely new way to play with geometrics with many variations. I'm looking forward to playing around with thinner stripes and multiple colors!

Items you need:
nail polish (at least one color)
tape
scissors
top coat

Steps:
-Cut thin pieces of tape before painting your nails
-Apply strips to your nails
-Paint two coats of nail polish, let dry
-Peel off pieces of tape and finish with a top coat

It might look harder than it actually is, but this is incredibly easy.

Enjoy!

Barney's Warehouse Sale: Loeffler Randall

shoes: loeffler randall

My first and unfortunately last find at the Barneys Warehouse Sale. Supposedly, starting next season, the warehouse sale will focus only on menswear. BUT, Barneys has a warehouse sale online that is 24/7, so I guess I can still snag some good deals. I'm so happy with my purchase. I was first introduced to Loeffler Randall during my internship at Nylon in the closet. While digging through the hundreds and hundreds of pairs of shoes, I remember coming across a beautiful fish scale pump and feeling my jaw drop to the floor. As the summer went by, whenever I saw a shoe that I secretly wanted to take home in the closet, it was none other than Loeffler Randall. So when I saw them at the warehouse, even though they weren't the Manolo steal that is rumored of this legendary sale, I held on to them knowing that they would deliver. As soon as I slipped my feet in and saw how these heels elongated my legs instead of awkwardly chopping them off at the ankles, I packed them up and headed to check out. I always knew I'd be a Loeffler girl...a girl of a certain kind of sophistication.

Ever scored a great sale at Barney's or elsewhere?
